Janel serves as an equity speaker. She provides services to the Midwest region through online, in-person, and hybrid formats.
She has worked with governing bodies of an organization, individuals in a formal leadership role, individuals who oversee operations of teams, and staff/key personnel of volunteers within an organization. She has served and partnered with various populations, including Asian or Asian American, Hispanic or LatinX, Middle Eastern or North African, White/Caucasian, Black/African American, immigrants, and LGBTQIA2S+.
Janel is a POC breastfeeding trainer, leader, and speaker for equity in the first food field. Janel has a wide range of experience. She has educated others through teaching webinars such as the APHA Webinar: “CHWs A View From the Frontlines.” She is also a part of the State of Illinois Breastfeeding Task Force in which she has been involved in “Clinically Integrated Breastfeeding Peer Counseling and Breastfeeding Outcomes.” In short, her involvement post implementation helped reduce disparities in Blacks from 17.8-50.0% and Hispanics from 30.4–65.9%.
